Albany Road in Roath is home to pretty much all of the biggest estate agents in Cardiff, including us.
Cardiff Council will be able to implement its homeless duty in the private rented sector plans soon, and in preparation for this change Cardiff Council is inviting all landlords and letting agents to a special consultation. We believe that all landlords and lettings agents should be given a say about any new legislations that affect the industry. That is why we are extremely happy that Cardiff Council is running this consultation and we highly recommend that all landlords and letting agents try to attend.
The consultation will see a review of the services being offered by the Council to the private landlord sector, while ensuring that the services are appropriate to support landlords, particularly those who house tenants in receipt of local housing allowance. It is hoped that the brief overview of each service will enable landlords to provide their views on what might be missing or what could be improved upon.
After informing landlords of the services Cardiff Council provide, the consultation also aims to find ways to improve the volume of quality housing available for people and families on low incomes or benefits. Finally, the council are also looking to find landlords and letting agents that would be willing to accept local housing allowance case referrals.
The consultation will be taking place at County Hall, Atlantic Wharf, on Tuesday 16th July between 16:00 and 18:30. Cardiff Council has also revealed that officers from relevant services will be in attendance, giving landlords the option of asking questions and shaping the future of private rental housing in Cardiff.
The first 25 people to confirm their attendance will receive a free one day accreditation training place. Places are limited, so if you would like to attend the conference please contact Matthew or Katie as soon as possible:
