RICS report that interest from home buyers is gaining real momentum.

The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has reported that interest from home-buyers is starting to gain real momentum, although sales remain low.

Enquiries in the housing market have been increasing for the last five months, the poll from RICS found, however the average number of sales i still low.

There was optimism throughout the housing market, although admittance that it remains tough for first time buyers due to mortgage finance being scare.

Whilst house prices were still falling in March according to the majority of surveyors, although the proportion eased with previous months giving signs of stabilisation in the coming months.

This survey from RICS is backed up by latest home loan figures from the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML), which shows that the number of successful mortgage applications was rising, but also showed that the average deposit required was at an all time high of 25% in February.
