Landlord focus group for landlord and agent licensing proposals

Update: view the latest information on the scheme launched in November 2015

Back in July, we reported that landlord and agent licensing proposals were being drawn up that would make it mandatory for every landlord, letting and management agent in the private rented sector in Wales to become licensed and accredited. CPS Homes' original article can be read here.

As well as leading ALMA’s response to the consultation document, we also collated the opinions of our landlords and submitted them for consideration. As a regulated agency, we fully believe that agents need to be more carefully regulated, but the introduction of landlord licensing needs to be given very careful consideration so that if a scheme is produced, it is effective in raising standards and not simply punishing the already-good landlords.

The Welsh Government is now holding a landlord focus group in order to assist them in the implementation of the proposals. If you’d like the opportunity to air your views on the matter and are interested in taking part, the group is being held at 2pm on Thursday 28th February 2013 in the Welsh Government Building, Cathays Park. To register your interest and view more information on the proposals, please refer to this document.
