We recently wrote to our student tenants on the subject of post addressed to previous tenants or CPS Homes.
During the first couple of months of your student tenancy, you may receive post addressed to previous tenants or, in some cases, "CPS Homes". We’d appreciate it if you could refrain from bringing this post to our offices and instead follow the below advice.
Whilst we always advise vacating tenants to set up an official redirect on their post, a lot don’t, so their mail continues to be sent to the property they’ve now left. If you receive any post like this, you shouldn’t open it. Instead, please write ‘Return to sender – no longer at address’ on the envelope and pop it through your nearest postbox. The sender will eventually get it back and amend their records accordingly, meaning you no longer receive letters from them.
When the previous tenants vacated, they should have closed down their utility accounts and advised their suppliers of their new addresses. As the suppliers don’t know the names of the tenants due to move in afterwards (you), they’ll often send new bills in the name of ‘CPS Homes’ letting agent. However, as long as you set up your own utility accounts as soon as you move in, this post will quickly cease. In the meantime, if you do receive post addressed to CPS Homes, please follow the same advice as above and write ‘Return to sender – no longer at address’ on the envelope, then put it through your nearest postbox.
Please remember that unless utility bills are included in your rent, you’re liable to pay them from your tenancy start date, not from the day you moved in.
If you need any other help or advice, please do not hesitate to contact our lettings team in our Woodville Road office based in the heart of Cathays. You can get in touch by calling 02920 668585, emailing us at enquiries@cpshomes.co.uk, or by popping into our office.
