In the competitive property industry where landlords, tenants, buyers and sellers have a wealth of estate and letting agents to choose from, it can be difficult for the best to stand out. That’s why estate and letting agencies such as ourselves here at CPS Homes join regulated memberships such as ARLA, NAEA, NAVA, APIP and ICBA, to show that we conduct ourselves ethically and are regulated by leading organisations in the property industry. The above regulators are the go-to organisations for many property professionals, and many people look for accreditation from these bodies when selecting an estate or letting agent.
Despite their success, each regulatory body agreed that they could do more to help deliver a consumer-focused approach, and have launched Propertymark, a new single-voice organisation which unites all the membership companies to deliver a clear message to buyers, sellers and renters that Propertymark agents will guarantee that you and your money are protected.
Until the launch of Propertymark earlier this year, all the NFoPP member organisations would reach-out and inform their clients on their own, but now Propertymark speaks for all of them and allows all the regulatory organisations to reach a much wider audience.
Under Propertymark, all of the specialist organisations such as ARLA Propertymark, NAVA Propertymark, ARLA Inventories, NAEA Commercial and NAEA Propertymark, will continue to provide information to their members, and will retain their individual member benefits and individual message. However, now, all will be regulated by Propertymark, and the NFoPP Awarding Body will offer qualifications under the new name of Propertymark Qualifications.
According to Propertymark, the new organisation will use its combined, single voice to improve awareness and recognition among all of the relevant audiences it now serves. In addition to Propertymark, all of the members have received new logos which reflect Propertymark’s changing emphasis from industry licensing to consumer facing protection, helping to shift the focus from the agent to the consumer.
Propertymark has stressed that any letting or estate agent using the Propertymark Protected logo is working to the highest standard to ensure that their customers’ money and property goals are properly looked after.
Speaking about the new Propertymark accreditation service, David Cox and Mark Hayward, Chief Executives of ARLA Propertymark and NAEA Propertymark said that Propertymark will give customers peace of mind by ensuring them that by using a Propertymark Protected agent, their money is safe. They continued to say that Propertymark Protected letting and estate agents have opted for regulation in an unregulated sector, and will provide consumers with reassurances and protection against rogue operators.
