Mae ein Uwch Gynghorydd Buddsoddiad a Marchnad, Rhys, yn cyfuno gweithio a CPS Homes gyda hyfforddi tîm rygbi'r adran iau o Clwb Rygbi Cymry Caerdydd Iau Pontcanna lle mae ei fab Twm hefyd yn chwarae.
Pan ofynnodd Rhys a fydd diddordeb a CPS i noddi’r tîm rygbi, fe gymeron ni’r cyfle a balchder. Mae nifer o wahanol ffyrdd i gefnogi’r gymuned leol, mae gweithredu a chymryd rhan yn y gymuned yn ganolog i amcanion y cwmni. Ein hased cryfaf yw’r tîm agos o staff sydd gyda ni. Rydym yn credu mewn buddsoddi a phobl felly os daw'r cyfle i ddangos gwerthfawrogiad i’r hyn sydd yn agos i galonnau’r bobl fe wnawn ni hynny.
Fe dynno' ni Rhys i ffwrdd o'i swydd a gofyn ychydig o gwestiynau am y clwb…
Rydw i wastad wedi bod yn angerddol tuag at rygbi, a dwi’n meddwl ei fod yn bwysig fod plant yn cymryd rhan mewn unrhyw fath o chwaraeon, felly roedd yn benderfyniad hawdd i mi ddod yn hyfforddwr tîm rygbi'r adran iau ble mae Twm wrth ei fodd yn chwarae. Mae’r clwb yn ffantastig, ar plant, y rhieni ar hyfforddwyr i gyd yn wych. Fel siaradwr Cymraeg balch, mae’r clwb yn arbennig i mi gan fod y plant yn gallu dysgu rygbi drwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg, gan wneud ffrindiau gydol oes.
Y bobl ar gymdeithas yn sicr! Rwyf innau, yr hyfforddwyr a rhieni'r plant yn rhannu negeseuon ar-lein sydd yn llawer o hwyl ag yn ffordd dda o gadw ysbryd y tîm yn uchel pan fydd y criw i ffwrdd o’r maes chwarae. Tu allan i’r clwb rydym yn aml yn trefnu gweithgareddau cymdeithasol gan gynnwys y plant. Rydym ni hefyd yn cynnal gweithgareddau elusennol, yn ddiweddar aeth cyfraniad i Fanc Bwyd Caerdydd, a dilynai nifer o drefniadau yn y dyfodol. Aeth rhai o aelodau’r tîm ar fws i Lundain wythnos dwethaf ar gyfer y ‘London Welsh Juniors Festival’ ac mae grŵp arall yn bwriadu mynd i Wlad yr Haf (Somerset) yn ystod y gwanwyn (twrnament cŵl lle mae teuluoedd yn gallu mwynhau reidiau, cerddoriaeth byw ac adloniant drwy gydol y penwythnos).
Rwy’n credu fod bod yn rhan o glwb yn galluogi plant i ddeall y pwysigrwydd o waith tîm ag i ymddwyn yn amyneddgar a disgybledig. Mae bod yn rhan o glwb yn bwysig i blant allu cynnal iechyd meddwl a hunan-barch yn ogystal â ffitrwydd corfforol. Mae’r plant yn mynd i frwydr pob dydd Sul fel tîm ac fel ffrindiau gorau yn gwarchod a chefnogi ei gilydd.

Our Senior Property Investment & Market Advisor, Rhys, combines working for CPS Homes with coaching Clwb Rygbi Cymry Caerdydd Iau, the mini and junior section of Clwb Rygbi based in Pontcanna, for whom his son Twm plays.
When Rhys approached us about sponsoring the team, we jumped at the chance. There are lots of different ways of giving back to your local community, and doing so is something we see as integral to how we operate. Our close-knit team of staff are our strongest asset and we believe in investing in people, so if we're ever able to show appreciation through supporting causes close to their hearts, we'll jump at the chance.
We recently pulled Rhys away from his day job to ask him a few questions about the club…
I’ve always been passionate about rugby, and I think it’s important for children to participate in some form of sport, so it was an easy decision for me to become a coach for the Clwb Rygbi junior team, which my son Twm absolutely loves playing for. It’s a fantastic club with great kids, great parents, and great coaches. As a proud Welsh speaker, Clwb is special to me as that kids get to learn the game of rugby in Welsh, making friends for life along the way.
Definitely the people and the community, without a doubt! Myself, the other coaches and players’ parents share a virtual chat group which is a lot of fun and a great way to keep the team spirit going between us all even when we’re off the pitch. We often organise socials outside of the club and involve the kids too. We do a lot for charitable causes, most recently donating to Cardiff Food Bank, and have some fun events in the pipeline. Some members of the team took a bus trip to London last weekend for The London Welsh juniors’ festival which was a blast, and another group are heading up to the “Rugby Rocks” festival in Somerset this Spring (a really cool tournament where families can enjoy rides, live music and entertainment all weekend too).
I think that being part of the club has helped the children develop a fantastic understanding of the importance of teamwork, patience, and discipline. Being part of the club is just as important for their mental health and self-esteem as it is with keeping them physically fit and active. They go into battle every Sunday as a team and as best mates, looking after each other and supporting each other.
They've helped us to maintain and improve facilities for the players in the junior section, gone towards participation in events and tournaments and various fees behind the scenes. The most recent donation has it gone towards a brand-new kit soon, so it’s safe to say it’s been a huge help. I love working for a company who have been really active in the local community from day one and take an interest in supporting staff with youth projects like this one. Thank you, CPS Homes!
